I learned Bangla because I grew up in an environment where everyone spoke Bangla. But English and Malay are both acquired. I learned Malay in less than a year just by conversation and reading subtitles and signboards and asking friends. As for English, I don't remember learning it per se, it was just always there. When I was younger through books, and eventually through TV shows and movies. It can sometimes be hard learning a language from a native speaker as they either don't know the technicality or get too technical when teaching. So I found it easier figuring out on my own with help from trusted people and sources. I hope to move to different countries and learn languages by immersing myself in the culture. In my opinion, that's the best (and most fun) way to learn!
